Open-tour buses are the most convenient option for Mui Ne, as most public buses serve Phan Thiet. Several companies have daily services to/from Ho Chi Minh City (four hours), Nha Trang (five hours) via Ca Na, andDalat (2 hours).

Getting Around

Mui Ne is so spread out that it\'s difficult to wander about on foot when it\'s so hot. There are plenty of xe omdrivers to take you up and down the strip. For something more comfortable, Mai Linh operates meter taxis.

Given that the area isn\'t highly populated and it\'s not on the main highway, this is not a bad place to hire a bicycle or motorbike through your hotel or one of the travel agencies. However, take care, as traffic is moving pretty fast and accidents involving tourists have been known to happen.

Mui Ne has quickly been transformed from an isolated stretch of beautiful white sand to one long row of resorts. While there is still a fishing village at the east end of the beach, it\'s tourists that make up most of the population.

The boom in top-end resorts has not killed the chilled surfie vibe, although it has brought an increasing number of up-market restaurants and souvenir shops. It\'s an unusual set up. as everything is spread along one 10km stretch of road - the accommodation is on the beach side, and the restaurants and bars mainly on the other.

Mui Ne sees only about half the rainfall of nearby PhanThiet. The sand dunes help to protect its unique microclimate, and even during the wet season (from June to September) rain tend to be fairly light and sporadic.

Mui Ne has been developing a reputation as the action capital of the coast. There\'s no scuba diving or snorkeling to speak of, but when Nha Trang and Hoi An get the rains, Mui Ne gets the waves. Surfs up from August to December. For windsurfers, the gales howl as well, especially from late October to late April, when swells stir over from the Philippine typhoons. Kite-surfing is very popular. If this all sounds too much like hard work you can simply splash about in the clean, clear water.

  Where to eat

    Mui Ne, as you would expect, is all about seafood. There are some great restaurants that will cook up the catch of the day right as you watch, including; Guava (53 Nguyen Dinh Chieu) or if you are looking for a more romantic option then consider the restaurant inside the Sailing Club – Sandals (24 Nguyen Dinh Chieu.) An extensive menu and a beautiful setting make Sandals a great choice. A popular local option with plenty of fresh seafood to choose from is Lam Tong (92 Nguyen Dinh Chieu.) Mui Ne and Binh Thuan province is also home to the famous dragon fruit. Aptly named, because of its appearance, it is a roadside favorite, and makes a great breakfast snack. see full details
