2. Bac Ha Market
Located in Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province, about 60 km from Lao Cai City, Bac Ha Market is the most market of the frontier highland. This market sells all types of products of the highland and necessary items for the ethnic people’s lives such as soil pick, plough, knife, shovel, etc. However, the area of selling jewelries, colorful dresses, brocades, and the lovely rattan papooses is the most crowded. You will be attracted by the bright dresses with the nice patterns and harmony colors of Mong and Dao’s girls. The tourists, who are men, often like coming here to enjoy “Thang co”, the unique traditional foods of Sapa’s people and featured specialty wines of the ethnic people here. Coming to Bac Ha, you will not worry about bargaining because people here are extremely friendly and hospitable; they are willing to sell any products for you with the wanted price if you really like that.
