This two days trip, just give you a glancing for the local life of Mekong Delta. It is not enough time to see much , because life in the Mekong Delta revolves much around the river, and many of the villages are often accessible by rivers and canals rather than by road. Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochin China and later from 1955 to 1975. In 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Dinh Province and was officially renamed Hồ Chí Minh City although the name Sài Gòn is still commonly used by locals
The city center is situated on the banks of the Saigon River , 60 kilometers (37 mi) from the South Sea and 1,760 kilometers (1,094 mi) south of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
At 8.30 am, our guide will meet you at hotel and leave the hustle Saigon heading to My Tho, the closet delta town to HCMC. After the 90 – minute drive, we arrive in My Tho. Starting our delta trip with a visit to Vinh Trang Pagoda, the most beautiful and ancient pagoda in Mekong Delta.
After that, we continue to the boat quay, enjoying a scenic cruise, crossing Tien River to Thoi Son5 Island. Here you have a great chance to listen to the traditional music performance, “cai luong” by local people, you will visit fruit orchards while tasting tropical fruit.
Taking horse-cart on the countryside road to Thao Nguyen orchid flower gardens and taste tea – honey bees.
Leaving Thoi Son, we continue our boat trip to fishing villages around the Phoenix Island. You can visit houseboats and learn how the locals feed Red Tilapias fish.
An Khánh Canal & Mrs. Út Thiếm house in Ben Tre is our next destination where you can communicate with the locals and enjoy coconut candy – special products of Ben Tre province.
After a walk on a village path, we take a wooden rowing boat along narrow of channels under the shadow of water coconut trees for deep look into the Mekong river life.
Have lunch in southern style at local restaurant that is famous for Elephant Fish as well as other delicious local specialties.
After lunch back to boat then transfer to Mr Hai for home stay
*Note importance: Overnight in a typical house and garden in the countryside. Some house let guest sleeping on the camping bed (a single folding bed with mosquitoes net) in private room or in a big room. All most bath rooms are outside – cool shower only.
After breakfast, you will say good bye to the local people and crossing the river by local ferry .
Traveling for one hours to Cai Be floating market.
Arrival Cai be, you board your boat and crossing on the Mekong river to Cai Be Floating market that was one of the famous floating market in the Mekong Delta. The most prominent feature of this area is the image of wholesale floating market where buyer and seller move around by boat. Landing an island you visit to the coconut candy workshop, popcorn, rice paper made by local people. Have a lunch at Mr Vo ancient house.
After lunch you’ll back to the car, driving to Cai Lay (new destination in the Mekong delta ). Boarding in the canals you will look the scenery like jungle , “Monkey bridge ” & fishing nets…And then you ride bicycle around the village, meeting and talking with the farmers who are very friendly and kindly, you also stop at the rice field , look how farmer sowing or harvesting rice or planning orchard (depend to season) .You will also have an opportunity to enjoy the local hospitality with some traditional cakes , some tea …Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon.
